CONNECTING INDIE ARTISTS TO FANS
At Position Music, I managed a core team that built, strategized, and executed the label’s frontline label artists 360* presence on the Internet.
As the first dedicated label marketing hire in the company’s 25 year history, I helped artists and the Position Music brand with their social media campaigns, websites, DSP profiles, tour marketing, advertising, public relations, in-person events, and overall audience development efforts.
PRESS & PUBLIC RELATIONS
As the Senior Director, Digital Marketing at Position Music, a big part of my role was writing press releases and securing premium press looks for both our artist roster, executive team, and significant company announcements.
I worked with many of the top entertainment PR firms in Los Angeles and New York to help get our music and messages heard and published on many of the most-popular music publications and blogs.
While at Position Music, I directly assisted in garnering coverage on publications and outlets such as SPIN, Variety, Billboard, Rolling Stone, PEOPLE Magazine, PASTE Magazine, The Hollywood Reporter, American Songwriter, Music Business Worldwide, Complex, Hypebeast, Alt Press, Paper Magazine, PASTE, FLAUNT, EDM.com, Dancing Astronaut, Earmilk, and many more.
CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS
Here’s me presenting to a sold-out panel workshop of at the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE).
As I’ve progressed in my career, I’ve found myself with a bevy of deep professional experiences with work that falls under the “Corporate Communications” umbrella.
Whether it’s writing and servicing press releases, drafting official company statements, presenting at live public industry events or conferences, appearing on podcasts, composing important emails or memos, writing copy for the web, designing and organizing presentations, producing specialized video content, or sharing data and information to key stakeholders behind closed doors—I’ve done and enjoyed it all.
At the core of it all, I like taking complex ideas, finding the proper story-telling medium for the identified audience, and presenting the key ideas and messages in a clean and concise ways to maximize efficiency and comprehension for all intended parties.
At Position Music, I worked closely with my CEO and our investors on many of these important tasks listed above. At Periscope, I would often create and present creative, analytical, and road-mapping work to our clients.
POSITION MUSIC BRANDING
When I started at Position Music, the company had an outdated logo, website, and social media presence. During my time, I led the charge on redesigning and re-positioning the brand to become the powerhouse indie music label and publishing company that it is now known to be today.
This detailed revamp entailed everything from re-doing the logo, a complete website redesign, refreshed social media strategy and execution, quarterly newsletter updates, premium branded video content production, and more.
In my six years, we 10x’d the number of Instagram Followers the brand account had, reached 100,000+ Subscribers on our YouTube Channel, launched TikTok, and seamlessly integrated our synch pitching efforts via our website and other best-in-class third-party industry tools.
SHORT-FORM VIDEO (TikTok, IG Reels, ETC)
I helped artists such as Ryan Oakes and Jordan Suaste (both above) with their social media presence. Oftentimes my internal team and I would ideate, produce, shoot, edit and post the content. While other times, we would lean on a core team of trusted professional LA-based freelancers to help bring our ambitious creative visions to life.
I would work directly with TikTok, Meta, Spotify, Apple Music, and other artist platforms to ensure our artists were adhering to best practices and would strategize closely with the artists themselves on each piece of content and the corresponding overall posting strategies and data analysis.
LONG-FORM VIDEO (Music Videos,LYRIC VIDEOS, YouTube, Etc)
One of my favorite things to do with our artists was to make “hero” video content usually in the form of premium music videos, lyric videos, visualizers, Q&A, or BTS videos.
Usually these videos would be shot in landscape and would delve deeper into each performers’ artistry, creative processes, and visual styles. I would project manage, send out RFPs to directors and production teams, do the contracting, be on set on shoot day, and ensure optimized video delivery to all DSPs and platforms as needed.
I would also help oversee my internal team’s digital strategy around uploading and posting the premium content, including executing all corresponding paid advertising to help support the organic content we produced.
INFLUENCER MARKETING
A big part of my job was procuring and pitching prominent YouTubers to use Position Music’s music to help fans discover our artists’ music organically. Above is SAD-ist’s #1 Trending Video that prominently features our music set to her stunning animation work.
Chloe Ting is a top fitness influencer and used our music multiple times in her popular workout videos. I would help facilitate the use and monetization agreements via YouTube’s Copyright Management System (CMS) with Chloe’s production team, the artists, and other key stakeholders. .
